Hello there and welcome to LinuxS2O
0:03
In this video I'm going to show you how to install virtual box in any Linux distribution
0:08
So there are few ways to install the virtual box. One is through the official repository
0:13
So you can directly open the terminal and execute the installation command
0:17
So if your system uses advanced package tool or APT, then you can run pseudo, APT, install
0:25
and virtual box. So virtual box is pre-included in the official repository
0:32
So you don't need to add any third party repo in order to install the virtual box
0:37
And now you need to hit enter and type in the password
0:42
And as you can see, it is saying that press buy or enter in order to start the installation
0:48
So I'm going to hit the enter and it is installing it. And this is regarding the advanced packagement tool
0:55
If you are using any system that you use any different package management tool, then you can
1:00
use the installation command related to that package management tool. For example, if you are using Fedora, Fedora has DFN
1:09
So for that you can use pseudo-DFN install virtual box and it will install the virtual box
1:16
And there are other package management tools also available like Pac-Man, for example
1:20
So you can use the installation command of Pac as well is installing so downloading has done it will take a little bit time in order to complete the installation So virtual box is very good for virtualization If you want to install an operating system or just want to give it a try then you don
1:38
need to install directly to your hard drive. You can install on the top of your host operating system
1:45
In fact, I'm running Ubuntu and this is Elementary OS and this is running under the virtual box
1:52
Few more seconds to go. So the installation is done now. You can simply go to the menu
1:57
So in this case the menu is here. In some other distribution you will find the menu button in this dock, this desk here
2:04
You can simply search the virtual box in the menu. Virtual box and hit Enter
2:12
And virtual box will start. And if you are not able to find the menu then you can simply type in the terminal virtual
2:19
box and same thing will happen. virtual box will start so this is the one way of installing the another way of
2:27
installing virtual box is using the package so you can directly download the package
2:33
from the packages dot org and the link to that I will give in the description so
2:38
this is the link here you will come to this side and just click on this link it will
2:44
take you to this page here you have to choose from different distributions that
2:47
are listed here if you can't find your distro then don't worry just find out what
2:53
kind of package or distribution use So there are two major packages out there One is dot dab another is dot RPM If it Fedora or Red Hat then you can go with the RPM package
3:06
So here is the RPM version of it. You can download the 64 and 32 width
3:12
And here we have the Ubuntu. So there are these four versions available
3:17
You can simply check which is your distribution and download the dot-dave file accordingly
3:23
So for example, if your system uses 64. then simply download this package here and let me just download it click on it and
3:30
here just click on this button then you have to come down here and click on this
3:35
link and it also shows here that you can install using the advanced
3:40
packagement tool okay so I'm going to download the package so this is the package
3:44
so it's downloaded now so here you can see I have this file let me first
3:50
install this virtual box that I have already installed so to install
3:55
The virtual box simply use the Perch command. So with the advanced Pakistan tool, it's pseudo APT, then Perge and Virtual Box
4:09
This will install the virtual box. Simply tab yes and it enter
4:14
Let me clear a terminal using Control L. So the file is in this downloads folder
4:20
You can simply right click here and click terminal. So this will cede to this downloads folder and here you can type the LS command and you will see this file here So to install with the advanced package tool you need to type pseudo APT not pseudo IPT
4:37
it's pseudo debion package, then I for the installation and the file name that is virtual
4:43
box. Just type the virtual and press the tab key. It will auto complete the file name. Hit
4:48
enter, type the password and it will take just a few seconds and it's
4:55
Now type virtual box and it is saying that you need to install virtual box QT
5:02
So I guess we need to install this virtual box QT as well
5:06
So do a pt install virtual box. Okay. Virtual box QT
5:16
Hit enter and it is basically upgrading this package to virtual box QT
5:22
enter and it will download this archive of 25 megabyte and virtual box will get installed
5:29
So the first method is very straightforward. Just type the virtual box and virtual box will
5:35
install. Now we can type the virtual box command and virtual box will definitely start. So here
5:43
is the virtual box. That's all in this one. I hope you liked it and if you did then don't
5:47
forget to subscribe to the channel and hit that like button if possible. Now see you in the next one
5:52
Until then, take care and keep in down Linux
